CvSU ranks 7th place in the 28th STRASUC Olympics

The 28th Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges (STRASUC) Olympics, hosted by the Marinduque State University (MarSU) with the theme, "Isang Puso, Isang Kalaro: Kabataang Atleta ng STRASUC sa Puso ng Pilipinas, Nagkakaisa para sa Bayan at Tagumpay,” which aimed to emphasize unity, sportsmanship, and collective aspiration for excellence, officially ended last Friday, November 28.
The week-long sports event saw over 2,000 student-athletes from 12 state universities and colleges participating in a week of competition, camaraderie, and excellence.
The Palawan State University Bearcats claimed back-to-back championship victories, with Occidental Mindoro State University College (OMSC) Blue Tamaraws and Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) Lakers as first and second runners-up, respectively. Cavite State University (CvSU) Green Hornets ranked 6th overall, raking in 124 medals.
With athletes participating in various events, the CvSU Green Hornets took home 31 gold, 42 silver, and 51 bronze medals during the STRASUC Olympics.
Nathalie Boton of arnis women's took home two silver medals in traditional individual anyo (double baston) and non-traditional synchronized (solo baston), along with one bronze in non-traditional synchronized (double baston).
Meanwhile, Ayesha Lujille Mira of arnis women's also won one bronze in the category of traditional synchronized, espada y daga. Prince Axel Cudia of the archery men’s category has won two silver medals in the Olympic round and mixed doubles, and one bronze in a team event consecutively.
Moreover, Coach Ma. Isabel Mojica shared her thoughts about the challenges that she and the athletes faced during the STRASUC Olympics.
“2021 pa ang last entry natin for basketball sa STRASUC, nagkaroon din ng struggles for the athletes since hindi sila nakapag pahinga ng maayos dahil nga masamang panahon at pagbabago ng venue” Coach Mojica stated. [F]
